Great white shark jumps from sea into research boat

The marine researchers in South Africa after the narrow escape of three meters long great white shark breaches the surface of the sea and jumped into the boat and became trapped on the surface of the ship for more than an hour. The incident occurred while the research team conducted a study shark population off the island of the seal, near Mossel Bay, on the coast of Cape Town in South Africa. Using sardines as bait to attract predators, the seven-strong crew is able to control four large eggs. These animals is known locally to explode through the surface as they feed on seals.

Schroeder was Dorien, leader of the research team in the oceans, which is based in Mossel Bay, said that on Monday morning, after more than an hour of activity around the ship sharks, leopard and water in the rear was quiet for five minutes. "Next thing I know I heard this news, and we see a violation of the white shark out of water from the side L of the boat hovers, literally, on the crew who was chumming [throwing the bait food] on the port side," she said.

She recounted how she pulled Schroeder colleague to safety before the sharks, and weighs about 500kg (half a ton) fell at the head of the bait and fuel containers. It was in the first half of her body out of the boat, but in a state of panic shark crush their way into more of the ship, cut the fuel lines and damaging equipment before it becomes trapped between the container and down to. Find the safety of the crew in the bow of the boat.

As pouring water on the Schroeder shark gills to keep him alive, and sent another boat to Leopard. The content strand of the second vessel on the tail of the shark, but repeated efforts failed to pull the fish in the water.

Cheetah rescue ship and then dragging them to the port with the sharks still on deck. The tube was placed in the mouth of the fish gills to ventilate the session, before the lifting of the boat with the crane, then lowered back into the water.

Although the shark swam away was unable to navigate its way out of the port and the beach soon. With the Ocean Research Co-Director, Enrico Gennari, an expert on great white sharks, team tried in vain to "walk" shark back to sea. Connecting cords of it in the end, the shark's tail fin and behind the pectoral fin, and attach these relationships to save the ship, shark, which dragged through the mouth of the port. Then the ropes were removed and the animal swam away.

Gennari said she was the first time he heard of the Great White Shark jump on the research ship. He estimated that the animal was a predator would have jumped about three meters of water to be able to land on board the boat. He said that small vessels will be overturned.

Regarding the issue of the behavior of sharks, Gennari said, was almost certainly an accident and not an attack on the boat. He said in a low water to see fish can be mistaken for prey to shadow the ship, or disturbed by another close by sharks.

"It's all speculation," he said. "But in some cases, irregularities on the surface when the shark was last shark underneath it. They [the transfer], such as flying fish at the end of the day and after a few meters."
