'India and Pakistan in an attempt to reduce the deficit of trust "

London: outgoing Indian Foreign Secretary Nirupama Rao said while underscoring the importance of friendly relations between Pakistan and India, both countries engaged in negotiations is to reduce the lack of mutual trust.

Responding to questions after a speech on "Pakistan's foreign policy priorities for the key," International Institute for Strategic Studies (IISS) here this afternoon, he referred to last week's talks in Islamabad that the Pakistani counterpart Salman Bashir held together and defined them as "constructive and positive" but added that at the same time should not expect any dramatic developments.

"These relationships are part of the normal process of incremental and step by step - and a better understanding of outstanding issues to resolve are leading growth," he said.

In response to another question, he agreed that India, Pakistan and Afghanistan work together for peace and stability in Afghanistan once the Western armies should ensure it.
